How to book an air ambulance in India
Step 1 – Send the medical summary
Send the patient’s current medical summary – diagnosis, whether they are ventilated or stable, current vitals, and the treating hospital. A discharge summary or the doctor’s note is enough to start. Send it by WhatsApp or the form.
Step 2 – The doctor’s assessment
A RED aeromedical doctor reads the summary and decides what the patient actually needs – a dedicated air ambulance (ICU charter) for an unstable or ventilated patient, or a medical escort on a scheduled flight for a stable patient who is fit to fly. The assessment is free and often saves the most money.
Step 3 – The written quote in 10 minutes
You get the price in writing, not read out over the phone. Ten minutes on average, 20 at the outside. The quote is bed to bed – aircraft or stretcher berth, aeromedical crew, in-flight equipment and oxygen, permits, ground ambulance at both ends, and coordination with both hospitals. No deposit.
Step 4 – Approve and the team mobilises
Once you approve, one coordinator takes over the logistics: the aircraft or airline berth, permits and slots, ground handling, and the two ground ambulances – so you are not repeating the story to five people.
Step 5 – Fitness to fly and departure
The patient is confirmed fit to fly for the plan chosen, the crew is briefed, and the sending hospital hands over. On arrival the receiving hospital admits the patient. The coordinator stays with the case until that admission is done.
An air ambulance is a medical service that flies – a doctor, monitoring and ICU-grade equipment travel with the patient. A charter is only a rented aircraft. Our doctor tells you which one your patient actually needs.

How to book – FAQs
How do I book an air ambulance in India?
Send the patient’s medical summary, a RED aeromedical doctor confirms the right transfer, and you get a written quote in 10 minutes. Approve it and the team arranges the aircraft, crew, permits, and ground ambulances at both ends. No deposit.
What do I need to get a quote?
At minimum, the patient’s diagnosis, whether they are stable or ventilated, and the sending hospital. A discharge summary or treating doctor’s note is enough to start.
How long does the quote take?
Ten minutes on average from receiving the medical summary, 20 at the outside – in writing, not over the phone.
Do I pay a deposit to book?
No. The quote and the fitness-to-fly assessment cost nothing.
Can it be arranged same day?
Yes, an urgent transfer can depart the same day. The doctor still confirms the patient is fit to fly for the plan before the aircraft moves.
Is an air ambulance the same as a charter?
No. An air ambulance is a medical service with a doctor and ICU-grade equipment on board. A charter is a rented aircraft with pilots and no clinical team. A stretcher on a charter does not make it an air ambulance.
How do I tell a real air ambulance from a charter?
Ask who the clinical team is, what equipment is on board, whether the quote is bed to bed or airport to airport, and who your coordinator is. A real air ambulance answers all of it; a charter goes quiet on the clinical questions.
